hello!

Welcome!
This is tasogare.moe, my little corner of the internet. This site is an attempt at collecting and displaying my various interests, hobbies, and even sometimes writing about them and the related processes- but for real this time. There will be no guarantees about consistency of updates, or any sort of unifying theme, but I'm not really setting out with anything like that in mind anyway. At the end of the day, I'm here to have a bit of fun. There won't really be consistency or a theme, but I'm not really setting out with one in mind anyway.

I've had this domain for quite a while at this point, but for a long time there was nothing here other than a generic 'under construction' page and a wonderful gif to greet anybody who happened to find this thing. The original plan and impetus for buying a domain in the first place was for a game(?) project I had in mind, that came about by being too cold at 1AM in the dead of winter. That idea never made it beyond a minimal text write up and one or two other things, so the site sat for a bit.

Eventually I decided it was time to do something, and ended up installing wordpress and briefly operated a (3) post blog with a friend that we used as part of a ridiculous Umineko no Naku Koro ni related advocacy campaign during a convention several years ago. Managing wordpress was a bit rough however, and I absolutely could not keep up the motivation to continue what I was writing up there (and the quality was not great), so with a deluge of bot comments being submitted constantly, it was time for that to go away.

And that more or less brings us to today.
In late 2024/early 2025 I had happened across a few retro styled websites in a short amount of time in the style of random people's neocities or angelfire pages of old and figured well, if I am ever going to do this, this is how I'm going to do it. I began with a generator I found on petrapixel's page (which was one of the pages I found in that short span) and went from there to suit my needs, having written a couple jekyll plugins at this point for some of the more square-peg-round-hole type stuff I've been aiming to do with default jekyll. At some points a dynamic website sounds much more appealing, but I get enough of that during the day job and I don't really want to futz with a database at present, though never say never...

As for myself, professionally I am a software developer and in my spare time I like to game, watch too much youtube, and explore making cosplay. I hope to expand my skillset with respect to the latter and document at least some of that process here, so enjoy the ride!

I am also quite a big fan of Umineko, which you will read, by the way.
